Sustainability (SUST)
In a context where natural resources are limited, the aim of this working group is to examine the environmental impact of our activities and to seek alternative, less damaging ways of working. We aim to share information that will empower our community to make appropriate decisions to progressively reduce its carbon footprint and its environmental impact.
Goals
- Examine the environmental impacts of our activities
- Increase community awareness of the finite natural resources of our planet
- Search for alternative, less damaging, ways of working
- Help us to make adequate choices to reduce our carbon footprint and environmental impact.
Contributions
- We organise regular webinars on Environmental Sustainability of Space Activities
- ESWW 2023 in Toulouse : organise a workshop on «Can space activities be made sustainable ?"
+ Plenary session on "Pathways to Sustainable Space Weather and Space Climate Activities
+ TDM on "Reducing our carbon footprint in space weather and space climate activities: approaches and lessons learnt" - ESWW 2024 in Coimbra : organise a TDM on "Towards ecologically more sustainable space weather and space climate services"
